THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage styles are customized to the
individual patient to ensure pain relief and comfort. The patient’s
pain, method of injury and health history are evaluated and
multiple massage techniques may be incorporated. Feedback
and communication are encouraged to enhance comfort and quality.
Swedish Style Massage- Uses light to medium pressure
to ensure relaxation and to de-stress the body and mind.
Involves effleurage and petrissage.
Deep Tissue Massage- Deep pressure
is utilized to work out muscle knots and adhesions. Forearm and
elbow techniques are used by the therapist to penetrate deep
into the muscle allowing tension release. May also
include: Trigger Point Therapy- Similar to
deep tissue, this technique is done to release tension in
specific areas. Deep pressure using stabilized thumb
and elbow work in a repetitive manner.
Pre/Post Natal- Pregnancy massage
helps create circulation for mother and baby. This massage can also
reduce swollen feet, legs and hands. Low back and sciatic
pain are frequent problems while pregnant. This areas
can be tension-free following medium to light pressure with
effleurage, kneading and compression.
Sports Therapy Massage- This
massage is designed for athletes in training. Pre-race or Pre-game massage
is energizing and helps circulation to provide maximum endurance. Post-race
or Post-game massage following the event encourages relaxation
to help rest and cool the muscle tissue and ligaments.
Detoxification Massage- This
massage is used with a monitored nutritional detoxification
program. The
goal is to help loosen toxins that are underlying in the
muscle tissue and interstitial fluid. Massage also
creates circulation and lymph flow. A technique used
sparingly is the liver pump which can uplift toxins and help
their excretion.
Scar Tissue Therapy- Deep friction to create
circulation over the scar to provide proper healing and correct
the scar. May also incorporate Anodyne therapy.
